Fall 2023 Project Update

The latest news on ARDF’s Development Projects
November 2023

In the past 6 months (since the last project update on May 1, 2023), ARDF has sent more than  $484,000 to projects in Burundi, DRC, Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Tanzania, USA, Uganda, and Zambia.

The past six months have been busy! We've been able to send money to both our traditional large grants (you can see a list of all of them here) and to several smaller projects. We are excited about the many ways the church is doing good work in the world, caring for both the physical and the spiritual through these various projects.

New Projects!

Over the past months we have reviewed grant applications, researched a number of strong project proposals, and even met with potential implementing partners via Zoom. We were encouraged and inspired to hear firsthand the vision of local church leaders around the world for each of their communities. Our Global Council met recently and approved 8 new projects with a total fundraising goal of more than $1.2M. We are thrilled to support the work of the local church all over the world! Read about them below and click on the photos to see each project’s page!

Ongoing Project Updates

Health Clinic In Uganda

In Uganda, our partners are constructing a health clinic in the Sebei region. People in this region suffer from curable diseases, such as anthrax, polio, cholera, and malaria, and for specialized care must travel over 150 miles. By building a clinic, the Diocese of Sebei hopes to reduce the number of deaths resulting from treatable illnesses, providing high quality affordable outpatient services, maternity, and general care.

The local community is excited for its completion, rallying around the clinic by visiting the site and even providing food for the construction workers. There are daily devotions and prayers each day before work begins, and our partners report that some workers have become Christians as a result! Last month some Bishops and Clergy visited the site and offered their encouragement as well. The clinic has truly been a community effort!

We are excited at the progress our partners are making, but this project still needs funding to complete. You can support it through a donation here.

Water In Kenya

In Kenya, ARDF supported the Anglican Development Services to rehabilitate a borehole in the southern Kajiado County which originally provided water to around 3,000 households. The past three years have been especially dry for this pastoral Masai community. Since the borehole had fallen into disrepair, community members and their livestock had to travel long distances in order to access water. With this small project, the community again has accessible, life-giving water in this drier area for families and their livestock. Generous donations to our Nehemiah Fund helped make this project possible!

Farming In Burundi

In Burundi, Great Lakes Outreach and their local partner United Citizens for Change and Development (UCCD) have developed a long-term vision to establish a retirement home for clergy. ARDF is partnering with their efforts by helping to establish and expand a farm that will provide both food and ongoing income generation. This farm will help their entire project be financially sustainable for the long-term. Harvesting twice a year, the income generated will sustain farming operations, and they plan to increase their sales by creating value-added agricultural products that are not as readily available in the local markets. As the farm is established it will eventually provide food for the retired clergy who will live on the campus they are building, and it will continue to provide an income stream for their expanding vision. We are grateful for donors who support our Nehemiah Fund, allowing us the flexibility to fund small projects like this farm.

Please keep our partners and the work they are doing in your prayers, and thank you for supporting the work of the local church all over the world!
