Good News Story: Adopted Into God's Family

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
- Luke 2:10-11

Tanzania

In Tanzania, approximately one child out of every 1,400 is born with albinism. This is much higher than in Europe or North America, where one in every 20,000 people has albinism. Albinism is a genetic condition which reduces pigmentation in the skin, eyes, and hair, and in Tanzania, those affected have long been subject to discrimination and even violence. In 2023, ARDF partnered with Shade, a Christian organization in Tanzania focused on empowering children, families, and communities affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities. ARDF helped to raise money for a new cafeteria at Shade School.

One of their main values is from Psalm 68:6 “God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity.” They state that “We have been adopted into God’s family, so we purpose to create family among the lonely and abandoned.”

And this is exactly what they are doing! Shade Primary School offers inclusive and quality education in the community. They incorporate students with albinism and offer advocacy seminars. While their mission is to change stereotypes surrounding albinism, they also holistically minister in many other areas to the surrounding community. They expect 210 students in 2024, many from vulnerable homes dealing with food insecurity. They provide breakfast and lunch to their students, ensuring that “each student is healthy, loved, and ready to learn!”

We are thankful our partners in Tanzania are sharing the Good News of God’s loving family!
