A New Building For A Growing Church

“Pyay is one of the new diocese with very strong evangelism, but is the least funded place. Most of the members of the diocese are villagers from rural areas. In that sense, it is so exciting to help them grow in this capacity.”
- Anne Ni, Liaison for the Diocese of Pyay

The Story…

The church in Myanmar has resiliently and faithfully shared the love of Christ through many struggles lately, including the death and devastation brought by COVID-19, Myanmar’s military coup in 2021, and deadly Cyclone Mocha in 2023. Despite all these trials, the church in Myanmar is growing, actively peace-building within the country and passionately bringing the gospel of Christ to those around them through evangelism and church planting. The Diocese of Pyay is comprised mostly of rural villagers, materially poor but eager to share what gifts they have. Currently operating out of a shared space, they need their own permanent space close to the community they serve. Their ministry is growing, and they will need a place to host weekly services, baptisms, marriages, and diocesan gatherings.

This new diocesan headquarters will also allow the church to offer space for other community events, such as hosting educational programs and conferences. It is such a priority that the diocese has already begun raising funds from within their own community to contribute to this project. This new building will be a resource both for this new and growing diocese and for their local community as they continue to reach out with the love of Christ.

"We are thankful that Pyay Diocese sent schoolteachers to teach at our village school, as well as provided the desks and chairs needed for the school children. Our children and all the village children can now learn to read and write in our own village and do not have to travel to other villages. We are so grateful for this support the Pyay Diocese gave to our village children for such a difficult time as this. Thank you so much, Pyay Diocese.”
– Ko Soe Naing, parent of two students from Nga-lu-san
