Good News Story: Planting Trees

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
- Luke 2:10-11

Can planting trees help to share the gospel? In Tanzania, our partners are finding that, yes, it can! In 2017 ARDF partnered with the Anglican Diocese of Kagera to provide training for farmers in tree cultivation and energy conservation. In addition to the short-term success of this project (300,000 saplings were planted and energy stoves were supplied to 405 families!), the project’s success has trickled out into other communities as well, and the church has grown by leaps and bounds! Since the project's completion, 91 new churches have opened - filled mostly with non-believers coming to faith! Our partners explain that “Linking tree planting with matters of faith made it more concrete among the church members . . . Backed up with biblical teachings, this program awakened them to feel that depleting the trees from the environment without replacement is sinful before God.” The church has been able to reach many people by preaching the full Gospel that brings holistic change in people's lives - both personally and in their environments!

We are thrilled at how Good News spread as a result of this previous project!
