Good News Story: Hope Amidst The Rubble

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
- Luke 2:10-11

Turkey/Syria

When a horrific earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on February 5, 2023, the local church stepped in to provide aid and shine the brilliant light of Christ despite a very dark circumstance and a difficult region of the world. ARDF partnered with several local churches and organizations, including the Orthodox Church in Antioch - the place Christians first received their name! (Acts 11). The church opened its doors to become a distribution center for much needed supplies and support for homeless families.

Other local believers transported aid from Turkey into more rural regions of Syria, despite having lost their own homes. By communicating that this aid was from the Church, they were able to open doors to share the good news of the Gospel with those who were not receiving aid from anyone else. Those receiving aid noticed that Christians were the ones helping them in the rubble. The Church’s presence amidst the chaos invited Christ as the Solid Rock, providing hope and healing.

We are so thankful for the local church and their commitment to bringing the Good News of Christ to those who are hurting!
