Good News Story: Hope In Brazil
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

In Northeastern Brazil, an incredible church community has turned a dangerous, high-crime neighborhood into a safe haven for the families that live there. House of Hope, run by the Anglican Church, serves families by offering education and other community classes and services. They knew that work in the community had to include creating safe spaces and activities for children and families. ARDF has partnered with House of Hope to help expand their facilities, building new classrooms and renovating a gymnasium.
Recently, some of our team visited Brazil to see how things were going. They were encouraged by the posture of prayer and the selflessness our partners exhibited. When asked if the gymnasium, renovated in 2016, continued to be beneficial in their community, they answered:
It is impossible to measure the impact of this gymnasium. It has helped us grow and be a powerful presence in the entire community.
Now, the gymnasium hosts multiple events and trainings for families and children, expanding their reach and witness for Christ. House of Hope has also added a third floor to their building, which now houses a dental clinic, a psychology office, and lessons in ballet and Tai Chi. Their school is now fully sanctioned, and each teacher is receiving a full salary while still offering free education to the neighborhood!
This community is thriving, and the ministry happening there has become a model for other churches as well. We are thrilled that the Good News of Christ is reaching entire communities through their work!
