Overview

The Deanery of Nepal, Diocese of Singapore, and the Anglican Church of Nepal renovated and equipped a recently purchased three-story building in Pokhara into a modern kindergarten. Joy Land Kindergarten School will be a safe environment, meeting hygiene standards and with proper child friendly amenities such as classrooms, toilets, and dining and play areas. The renovation will make Joy Land Kindergarten a center of holistic Christian education in Pokhara. With the capacity to enroll 120 students, these children and their families will be exposed to a quality Christian education with a unique blend of local and international curriculum. Open to all, these children will grow and develop their knowledge, skills, and talents - regardless of race, caste, or religion.

Their 13-year-old, three-story building is an amazing example of God's provision! Several years ago, Joy Land Kindergarten was renting space for their school, praying for land to construct a building of their own. By God's provision, they were able to secure land for their school that already had a suitable building on it! The church learned that the previous owner's son envisioned the structure as a school for the neighborhood, but died before his dream could be realized. When the owner learned that the church was going to use the building as a school, he was visibly moved.

“This is a testimony of God’s goodness in providing for Joy Land Kindergarten. The ongoing ministry partnership between ARDF and the Diocese of Singapore in the setting up of a school in Nepal is indeed an occasion to bless and praise God as we experience His goodness in leading us to accomplish His will. Despite the Covid-induced restrictions, we were introduced to a three-story building which we found to be eminently suitable, both in terms of location as well as the price.”

Progress

In March of 2023, two of ARDF’s team visited Nepal for the dedication of Joyland Kindergarten in Pokhara. It was a joy to fellowship with our partners, see the ongoing construction of the school, and meet some of the incredible teachers who are serving there! The Dedication Ceremony included pastors from around Nepal, Joyland Kindergarten students and teachers, ARDF team members, and Bishops and clergy from Singapore.

In February 2024, students, and teachers gathered for an open house to celebrate the completion of the school! Joyland Kindergarten will begin its school year on April 15, 2024.

Prayer Requests From Our Partners:

  • Pray for student enrollment and engaging of good staff.

  • Pray that through the school the community can be engaged and come to know Christ, and that the school will show the love of God to the community through its good education and character building.
