Completed Classrooms at Good Shepherd Academy!
“The growth of infrastructure of the Good Shepherd Academy has increased hope not only for the families sending children to [the school], but to South Sudan as a nation.” - The Rev. Canon. Peter Garang Thieel, parent of students and an instructor at the adult education program of Good Shepherd College and Seminary, Juba
Juba, South Sudan
Good Shepherd Academy in Juba, South Sudan is a much needed answer to prayer! Quality education is difficult to find, as the years of civil war disrupted all sectors of development and destroyed the few schools that existed. In 2018, ARDF approved a grant to add a four-classroom block to Good Shepherd Academy, increasing enrollment and improving the learning environment.
We are pleased to report that this project has been completed!
The school’s founder, John Chol Daau, knows that by focusing on education without tribal or economic discrimination, the school is able to promote peace and reconciliation in the context of the South Sudanese history of civil war. John was recently in the United States for the New Wineskins missionary conference, and we treasured the opportunity to catch up in person and hear how Good Shepherd Academy was doing. John specifically asks for prayers as they minister in the area of trauma healing and counseling to the community.
