Opening Day for St. Andrew's

The inaugural class of St. Andrew’s

“In Pursuit of Knowledge and Virtue” – School Motto

Badasa, Marsabit, Kenya

The day is here! St. Andrew’s High School for boys has welcomed its first class of students. On May 10, 27 students arrived to move into the high school and begin their secondary school journey. Generous donors from KCEP and ARDF are helping 24 of these boys with scholarships.

It seems like a miracle that the school has opened on time. Civil unrest, compounded by the upcoming elections, as well as the recent drought, have complicated the situation for families in the county. But as the parents came with their boys and moved them into the dormitory, it was clear that this was part of God’s plan from the beginning.

St. Andrew’s welcomed its first students this week.

These boys will now receive an education from a Christian worldview. The school’s motto is, “Scientia Et Virtute”, or “In Pursuit of Knowledge and Virtue”. The mission augments this: “To provide a conducive and godly nurturing learning environment for every young man to knowledge and virtue for service to God and humanity.”

These boys will receive their education while staying close to home in Marsabit county. This means that parents can easily travel to the school to help their boys settle in and to attend special events like visitation days.  Most importantly, they will receive a top notch education, as St. Andrew’s will continue the legacy of the award-winning Tumaini Academy, from which eleven in the new class have come.

“It's a great joy as we admit the pioneer class at ACK St Andrew's Boy's High School, Marsabit. This is a dream come true and we give all glory and honor to God. We are forever indebted to friends and partners in ministry who have walked the journey with us. We pray God's every blessing upon the school, students, teachers and support staff as we together pursue godly knowledge and virtue to the service of God and humanity.” – Bishop Qampicha Daniel Wario

Phase one of the campus was completed last month and includes two classrooms, a dormitory, a kitchen, headmaster’s house, two water tanks, a sports field, security fencing, and the entry gate. The school is wired for electricity and internet, and the students have access to one of the school's many desktop computers.

Phase two of the campus will begin shortly, with the construction of two additional classrooms, offices for the administration, housing for staff, a computer lab, and two additional water tanks.

Please join us in prayers and thanksgiving for St. Andrew’s, the Anglican Church in Marsabit, and most importantly, the teachers, staff, and students as they begin this journey together.
