School Expansion in India

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
- Proverbs 22:6

India

Most of ARDF’s development work is focused on larger projects that require research and evaluation, and are brought before our board of Global Trustees for approval. However, ARDF also has a fund set aside to quickly support projects with budgets less than $35,000. While researched, these proposals do not face the same rigorous approval process, allowing us to more quickly award funds. We want to be able to fund these small yet creative projects, acknowledging their importance in the life and health of the church and the community. These smaller projects are also helpful in identifying new partners, or allowing an existing partner to head off an unexpected challenge in their community.

St. John’s school, located in the state of West Bengal, is one of these small yet important projects. In the tribal village of Kalikapur most people are illiterate. The Anglican Church built the first school in the region, and parents were excited to send their children to this Christian school. The school originally was supposed to have only four rooms, which was not sufficient for the growing interest in education and the various ministry opportunities. In 2021, St. Michael's Anglican Church Charleston, SC heard of this need and wanted to help. After raising $10,000, they partnered with ARDF to award a total grant of $20,000 to expand this school, adding a new floor to their building to accommodate more children.

Please pray for the ministry of the church in this area as they reach out to children and their parents with the life-transforming love of Christ.
