The End of an Era: Flora Galbraith Retires!

Flora was part of the team visiting ministry partners in Cairo, Egypt, in 2015.

“Being able to help people and organizations in their time of need, both here and abroad, has been a wonderful accomplishment.” – Flora Galbraith

It is the end of an era here at ARDF. On Jan 31, 2022, Flora Galbraith retired from ARDF. Flora began working for ARDF in 2011 as our office manager. But she was so much more than that! She connected with donors wanting to learn more about our grants and she hosted international partners as they passed through our offices in Ambridge. Finally, she kept the office running smoothly by managing our internal finances.

Flora will always be best known for her attention to detail as she wired funds overseas to our partners. More than once, she saved ARDF from fraudulent transactions, recognizing that the details of a wire transfer were suspicious! On the other hand, she managed to get funds to our partners even in difficult circumstances, like to Myanmar during the 2021 coup or Sudan despite the amount of paperwork necessitated by the US government to confirm we were not funding a terrorist organization!

“It would be impossible for me to succinctly describe all the ways that I appreciate Flora. From a professional perspective, her excellence, attention to detail, and passion for her job are all quite impressive. From a family perspective, I absolutely love how she loves her family. She lights up when she talks about them. From a faith perspective, Flora knows Jesus and it's quite obvious. From a friend perspective, Flora's sense of humor and storytelling always make time with her so enjoyable. She will be greatly missed around ARDF but we are so excited for her next ministry venture.” – Jake Stum, Executive Director, ARDF

Through it all, her inspiring stories, strong prayer life, and unwavering sense of humor buoyed our entire team. And although she eventually transitioned from office manager to a more limited role around managing projects and relief events, she remained indispensable.

Anyone who has been involved with us for any length of time has encountered the large heart of Flora Galbraith.

Flora may be retiring from ARDF, but she is not retiring from ministry. She is now turning her incredible skills to building up a deaf ministry in ACNA. We pray for God’s favor on these activities and wish Flora, Michael, and their large extended family all the best.
