Church in the Time of COVID-19

Prayer gatherings all over the world, like this one in Accra, Ghana, are being suspended. But that doesn’t mean the church is disappearing!

“Our Lord is Sovereign!

These are unprecedented times! With so many unknowns, most of us are dealing with some level of anxiety. Serious economic and health concerns will affect communities around the world. Who knows what the long term consequences will be?

One thing we do know: our Lord is sovereign. And when our lives are out of control, He is in control.

The second thing we know: the local church is stepping up! Whether it is through helping older parishioners get groceries, live-streaming daily services, or bringing canned food to local elementary schools, in times of crisis, communities trust the church to help. People turn to the church in times of crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic will be no exception.

If you are a church leader, you might be interested in this two day summit for churches and church leaders on how to respond to COVID-19.

At ARDF, we want to celebrate these opportunities! Our model is to support the work of local churches as they reach out as the hands and feet of Jesus. In the coming weeks, as a means of encouragement, we will be highlighting stories that feature the local church at work all over the world.

We would also love to share your stories! If you have testimonies of how God is working through your local church, please let us know. We’d love to share this good news. In these uncertain times, stories like these can be a welcome respite from the onslaught of mainstream media.

Please join us in continuing to pray for those around the world without clean water or safe lighting as part of our Lenten series. We look forward to our Easter celebrations, even if they look a little different this year.

Finally, we want you to know that while our small team is mostly working remotely, we remain available to you by email and phone. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

God bless you and may you remain healthy and safe.

"Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who cares for us. Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested unto us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
