Update from Carlile College, Nairobi

These six students have received scholarships to attend Carlile College.

They have changed my life.”

Nairobi, Kenya

It might not look like much, but Carlile College in Nairobi, Kenya has an excellent reputation for training clergy and evangelists.

Carlile College Theological School, in Nairobi, Kenya, is known throughout East Africa as an excellent school for evangelism. The college serves students from many countries, including Burundi, South Sudan, and The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The need for training is great. Most of the clergy and evangelists from these countries have not had the theological or missional training necessary to effectively reach out to their communities with the Gospel. Clergy from these countries also are the least likely to have the means necessary to enroll in at Carlile.

For the past four years, ARDF has been offering assistance to the College to recruit and train students in their programs. These students have then returned to their home countries to plant churches and the results have been encouraging.

The beauty of the Carlile education is that the college is a mission oriented institution. They are constantly tailoring their courses to meet the current needs of society.

“We give our students practical training even as we train them academically. We believe that a well-rounded student is ready to face the mission field in a practical way. We endeavor to train students who are ready to lead the community in missions. The students are not only trained to lead in serving their congregations, but also to be transformed so that they in turn can transform the society.” – Captain Lucas Nyaware

Most recently, Carlile College is equipping students to interact with Muslims, Hindus, and those from marginalized areas of society. These three groups were chosen based on a survey of where students are serving. After a successful conference on this topic, the college is now open to adding this as a course of study in the future.

The students that attend describe their experience at Carlile as life-changing.  Most recently, one recent Sudanese graduate (supported by the ARDF grant) writes:

“Within the course of these two semesters I have learnt several lessons which have transformed my life. I have learnt the redemption of cities through the gospel of Christ. This is through the urban mission where we have been going out in the slums to spread the gospel and reach the lowly. I have [also] learnt how to spread the gospel in different ethnicities.”

Please join us in praising God for the impact Carlile College has been able to have. We also ask that you pray for the new trimester of May – July 2022. They expect a large enrollment in all their programs and are trusting God that they shall be able to handle the numbers and serve each student well.
