“Constructive Encouragement”
Last March, a deadly tornado struck Rolling Fork MS, killing 13 people and injuring many others. ARDF sent over $2,000 to help with initial relief, and we are looking forward to some upcoming Disaster Response Mission Trips in June! Our National Disaster Response Director, Tommy Lamb, just returned from an assessment trip where he learned about the ongoing ministries and organizations working to rebuild the town. We are thankful to see the faithful body of Christ working diligently to restore not only homes, but lives.
ARDF is excited for the work of Rolling Fork Rising, an organization dedicated to rebuilding homes and hope in Rolling Fork. Through some amazing opportunities, Rolling Fork Rising has been able to offer no interest mortgages to former renters - enabling home ownership and financial independence! Through a robust program which includes counseling for applicants, not only are people having their homes rebuilt but they are able to gain financial stability and break cycles of multi-generational poverty!

We were also impressed by the opportunity for churches to build house walls “remotely” and have them delivered to Rolling Fork. Two churches have already participated, delivering or arranging transportation for the frames. This could be a way for churches to get involved in long-term recovery even if they cannot participate in a trip.
