BRAZIL: People in Poverty Benefit from Holistic Learning

Diocese of Recife – Brazil, the largest country in South America, is home to more than 200 million people across five major regions. In the poor Northeast, a convergence of violence, history, malnutrition and lack of services contribute to extreme poverty. A fifth of all adults are illiterate. Christ the Liberator Anglican Church, under the Diocese of Recife, will finish constructing the Anglican Center of Holistic Mission. It will include a church, an educational and professional training center, and a mission center. The educational and professional training center will help unemployed people learn new skills and provide youth with a formal education through reading workshops, English classes, and computer classes.
