Rediscover and Remember
“For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.”
– Romans 8:22-23
The season of Lent is an important time of reflection and repentance in the Anglican Church. Based upon Jesus’ forty days of fasting in the wilderness, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (February 18th, 2015) and concludes on Easter Sunday (April 5th, 2015). It gives us the opportunity to remember and acknowledge the brokenness in our own lives and in the world around us. We recall that we are all equally poor–whether spiritually or materially–before God, and equally accepted because of his radical grace.
ARDF is overjoyed to offer free Lenten resources to help you and your congregation rediscover Lent and prepare for Easter.
Through these materials, you will connect with millions of other Anglicans celebrating Lent around the world this year and learn about the issues affecting their communities. We will be reminded that we observe Lent not just as individuals, but as churches, communities, and countries. As we encounter poverty around the world, we will enter into this penitential season and recognize our own poverty of spirit and reliance on God’s unconditional grace.
This year, we will focus especially on ARDF’s work in Myanmar (Burma), and how you can get involved in this life-transforming partnership.
With our prayer guide, you will learn something new each day about our brothers and sisters in Christ living in Myanmar. With our mite boxes, you will have the opportunity to place a small donation in your mite box on their behalf. Most importantly, though, we will offer suggested daily prayers for those suffering in poverty and oppression this Lent.
Please join us in reflecting upon the Grace of Christ and responding with generosity and compassion.Help raise awareness:
